Who are we, and what do we do?

As a cyber club, the GFWC Blue Umbrella Club brings together members from different communities who share a common commitment to volunteer service guided by love, respect, and kindness. Although miles may separate us, technology allows us to remain connected, exchange ideas, celebrate accomplishments, and encourage one another in our efforts to make a positive difference.

Our members serve their local communities in a variety of meaningful ways, including supporting food pantries, assisting neighbors in need, providing educational resources to students and classrooms, recognizing first responders, and honoring veterans. By sharing opportunities and working toward common goals, individual acts of service become part of a greater collective effort, extending our impact throughout Florida and beyond.

What makes our club unique is the ability to serve independently while remaining united in purpose. Whether members participate in similar projects across different communities or contribute their time and talents to local initiatives, each act of volunteerism strengthens our shared mission. Every contribution, regardless of its size, helps create positive change and demonstrates the lasting impact of compassion and community involvement.

Miles may separate us, but purpose, friendship, and service unite us. Together, we make a difference.

A short version of a long history!

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is one of the largest international women’s organizations dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.

In 1868 Jane Cunningham Croly, journalist, was denied admittance to an all-male press club honoring Charles

Dickens. So, she started her own “women’s only” club and clubs started forming in the US. On April 24, 1890, 63

clubs officially formed the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The Congress granted a charter to GFWC in 1901. Our motto is "Unity in Diversity".

GFWC offers a network of more than 60,000 clubwomen who volunteer on a local, state, national, and international level.

Working together, we constitute a powerful, service-oriented organization. We have more than 2500 clubs in all 50 states and 20 International Affiliate Clubs.
